Lots To Do

We are busy getting ready for the Jefferson County 4-H Fair. Everything gets judged Monday except for geology and that is Tuesday. I think we have decided not to make any cookies. It is just too hot in our kitchen. We still have to get the rocks put on the display board and label them. I guess we will do that tonight or tomorrow night. I just sent some pictures of Zane working on and launching his rocket to Wolfes to get developed so we will have them for the judging. I forgot all about needing them until we went to the Shawnee County Fair this morning. We looked at the rocket and geology displays so we will have some idea of how to do Zanes. I never did rockets or geology when I was in 4-H so I don't really know what to do.
Our car is still in the shop. They can't get it to die so they can't figure out what is wrong. If they don't have it fixed tonight we are going to pick it up and Curtis is going to try one more thing to see if that fixes it. Curtis is also going to fix the air conditioning on the truck tomorrow. If I am going to have to drive it next week to the fair I want it fixed. I hate being hot.
I better go get busy on the dishes and figure out what to make for supper. We have to get the pictures later this afternoon and make some copies of some 4-H papers before Curtis gets home.

New Toys

I finally got some pictures posted. Last week Curtis got a new toy. He got an electric scooter. He is planning on riding it to work and around town. It is a 2 seater so Zane can ride too, as soon as we get him a helmet.

Here is a picture of Curtis and Zane trying out the scooter. We gave Zane rides up and down the driveway.

Here is my baby on his 8th birthday. We got him lazer tag and Curtis and him have been playing it when it gets dark. He got a pirate toy with the money he got from my parents and he plays with is all the time.
The place that is fixing my car was suppose to call and tell me what is wrong and how much it will cost but they haven't called yet. I hope it doesn't cost a lot to fix it and we get it back soon. They just called and can't get it to act up for them. They are going to keep it overnight and try again tomorrow.

A Bit Of Everything

I have been trying to post some pictures but it isn't letting me. I tried all day yesterday and several times this morning. I guess you get a boring update without pictures. I have not been doing too much. My car is in the shop so I don't have anyway to go anywhere. Yesterday I picked all the ripe tomatoes and peeled, diced and froze them. When it cools down I will make salsa. I also have to wait for the peppers to get ripe. Our garden is not doing as good as it did last year. I have only picked 3 bell peppers and 2 jalapenos so far. Monday I picked all the corn that was ready and out of 4 rows I only got 10 ears. We should have about 5 more by the end of the week.
We are busy getting ready for the 4-H fair next week. Last night we went to the geology leaders house and identified some more rocks. We still have to label them and put them on the display board. Some time this weekend I am going to help Zane make some no bake cookies. Everything else is done. He is also taking a no-sew sleeping bag he made, a rocket, honey and a lego tank. I will put pictures on when I get them taken.
I am not doing much today. It is getting hot again and I am not happy about it. I really hate being hot. I wish the summer would hurry up and get over. I am ready for snow.

Finally An Update

It has been a while since I last posted. Not much happened last weekend. I worked and it was very hot. Tuesday my mom called and wanted to know if Zane wanted to help my dad extract honey for the fair and if I wanted to help freeze corn. We left early Wednesday morning. My sister, Teri, and her kids came too and while my dad had the boys helping him the girls did the corn. The younger kids (including Zane) mostly played all day. We froze 19 bags of corn with 3 cups and 17 bags with 2 cups in them. After we had lunch we picked peaches and sliced and froze them. My mom was conveniently sick all day and didn't have to help at all.
That evening Zane and I met my niece, Sara, and nephews, Jon and Tony, at a low water bridge about 5 country blocks from my parents house. My car died just as we got there. I tried and tried to get it started and couldn't so we called my dad and he came and rescued Zane and I. We left the car there and went back later and it started right up. I was driving as fast as I could because I figured it would die again and it did, but I did make it about half of the way back to my parents. We thought it was getting too hot so we left it and went back about a hour later but it didn't start. Since it was after dark we just left it over night and when we went back in the morning it started right up and made it all the way this time. Zane and I ended up staying the night again since it was hot again yesterday and we came home this morning. We made it all the way home without any problems. Curtis took the day off to fix what he thought was wrong. After he fixed it we went to Dillons and it died as we pulled out of the parking lot. We pushed it off the road and a little later it started but we didn't even make it to Hwy 24 before it died again. We sat there for a while and got it started and made it through the intersection but not all the way home. We were able to coast to a parking lot and left it there and walked home. We went and did some shopping and it started when we went back and we got it home. How Curtis thinks it is not getting gas. I am taking it to the shop Wednesday and I am hoping I can get it there with out it dying on me. I hope we can figure out what is wrong and it doesn't cast too much to fix it.
I am taking off work tomorrow. It is Zanes 8th birthday. I am not sure what we will do yet. We might go play wacky golf since it is not going to be hot. We went to see the Pirates movie tonight and it was really good. Zane really like it and he has gotten all his pirate toys out and is playing with them now.
I did this really fast so sorry if there are misspelled words or it doesn't make since in some places.

Sick and Hot

It is getting very hot here. It is in the 90's today and very humid and it looks like it is going to get even hotter over the next week. It is starting to get really hot in our kitchen since it is not air conditioned. I have been having to go to the living room just to cool down. I am not getting very much accomplished.
Yesterday we had a pretty lazy day. Curtis cane home early to work on the car and it only took him about a hour. He thought it would take a lot longer. After that we didn't do anything. Curtis took a nap and Zane and I played. Around 5pm Zane said he didn't feel good and had a headache so he decided to rest and he fell asleep. Since everyone was asleep I decided to take a nap too. We got up and ate supper and Zane still didn't feel good. When we were getting ready for bed he threw up a little. I made Curtis take care of him because I figured I would be up with him all night. We gave him some tylenol for his fever and he fell asleep and didn't get up till after me. He still had a fever this morning and he asked for more tylenol so I know he still isn't feeling very good. He has been watching movies all morning and I have been trying to get some work done around the house.
Tonight we have picnic for 4-H that I have to go to. I am leaving Zane and Curtis at home since he is sick and it is going to be so hot. Tomorrow we have 2 sand volleyball games. I am not looking forward to them since it is so hot. I think I will take Zane to the lake Friday if he is feeling better. We haven't been all summer and he has a lot of fun there.
I hope you all are staying cool.

Fireworks

I hope everyone had a good July 4th. Monday after I got home from work we went to my friend Patty's. We all had a lot of fun. Zane played with all the kids and Curtis and I talked with friends from work and Patty's family. We ended up staying until they were done with all the fireworks. On the 4th we slept in and then Curtis made pancakes in the waffle maker for lunch. We hung out at home for a while after that and then went shopping for more fireworks, we also went to Target, Toys-R-Us and Wal-Mart. We got home and prepared for out fireworks display. We really didn't have any big ones but our neighbors had a lot. We enjoyed watching them all around our house. Zane and I stayed outside till almost 11pm watching them.

Here is Zane with a sparkler. He was mad we made him get his picture taken. Curtis tried to take picture of the other fireworks but we mostly got pictures of the dark sky.
Tonight I am taking Zane to a geology meeting for 4-H then we are going to my parents and staying night. They are having a garage sale tomorrow and we are going to help with it. If anything exciting happens I will let you know.
